Logan Canter

Logan Canter passed away in his sleep on May 19, 2008, just six days after his 60th birthday. He had moved from his birth place of Oakland, Ca to Miami, FL where he started working at South Dade Electrical Supply. Logan was with Florida Lighting Associates Agency until 1987 when he relocated to Nashville, TN starting his own agency, Tennessee Lighting Sales. When he arrived in Nashville, he found the IESNA Tennessee Valley Section was inactive. Logan took on the responsibility of reestablishing the Section to active status and was successful when the first re-organization meeting was held on a beautiful fall day in 1987. Logan served as Section Officer in the Treasurer and President capacities, and most recently served many years on the Section Board of Managers. He was a sponsor of the South Central Southeastern 1998 Bi-Regional Conference. Logan presented topics at the Tennessee Section meetings and taught different modules during the two times the IESNA ED-150 course was offered. Logan became a Member of the IESNA in 1982 and was presented with the IESNA Section Service Award on October 15, 2002. Logan said “It is a great honor for me.” He had been instrumental in the lighting industry for 38 years. Logan is survived by his wife, Diane Canter and his son L.W. Canter. A favorite expression was “Every Day is a Gift”. Logan will be missed by many.
